Privacy Policy: One-Click Image Downloader

Privacy Policy: One-Click Image Downloader
One-Click Image Downloader is a Chrome extension that finds, downloads and converts images on web pages you choose to use it on. This policy covers the extension. Our website has its own privacy policy

The short version

The extension runs on your device. We don’t receive your images, your browsing history or any personal data from it, and we don’t sell or share data.

What the extension accesses

The page you open it on: it reads that page to find image addresses (URLs) so it can show and download them. It doesn’t read pages you haven’t opened it on.
Images on the web: to show, measure, convert or zip an image, your browser requests it directly from the website hosting it, as it does when you view the page. The request can include cookies your browser holds for that website, and that website can see the request as usual. Nothing is sent to us.
Conversion and ZIP files: converting to JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or PDF and creating ZIP files happen entirely on your device.
Downloads: the extension asks Chrome to save the files you choose, and watches for each one to finish so it can count completed downloads.

What the extension stores

The following stays in Chrome’s local storage on your device. We can’t see it.
  • Your settings: filters, chosen format and file name pattern
  • A count of completed downloads, and the details needed to count ones in progress
  • Your install date, and whether you’ve dismissed the rating request or the “What’s new” note
We use this only to remember your preferences and to decide when to show those two messages. To delete it, remove the extension.

What the extension does not do

  • It doesn’t collect, upload, sell or share your personal data, browsing history or images.
  • It doesn’t use data for advertising, or to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
  • It doesn’t load remote code.
  • It contains no analytics, ads or trackers.

Why it asks for its permissions

| Permission | Why |
|—|—|
| Access to the current tab, and scripting | To find the images on the page you opened it on |
| Access to all websites | To read image files for converting and zipping, as images are often hosted on other domains. They are processed on your device and never uploaded. |
| Downloads | To save the files you choose |
| Context menus | To add the right-click options on images |
| Storage | To keep the settings and counts listed above on your device |

Google’s Limited Use requirements

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the [Chrome Web Store User Data Policy](https://developer.chrome.com/docs/webstore/program-policies), including the Limited Use requirements.

Pages on our website

The extension opens our website in two cases: the support link, if you click it, and a short optional survey when you uninstall. Survey answers are anonymous and used only to improve the extension. Visiting our website is covered by its own privacy policy, linked above.

Children

The extension isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect anyone’s personal information.

Changes

If the extension’s data practices change, we’ll update this page and the date above before the change takes effect.
